About the Opportunity
IMT Precision has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Buyer to join our growing team based in Ingersoll, ON.
Reporting to the Materials Manager, you will be primarily responsible for negotiating and managing the procurement of key commodities, subcontracting of same, assisting in the development of new suppliers, and interfacing with our engineering staff on technical requirements.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working with suppliers to secure optimal quality, delivery, and pricing of commodities
- Initiating cost savings, tracking and supporting
- Issuing and administering Purchase Orders in accordance with policies and procedures
- Purchasing materials and services
- Managing subcontracting processes in support of production using approved suppliers
- Monitoring and managing suppliers to achieve procurement targets in price, delivery and quality as well as supplier deliverable requirements and document support
- Working with engineering, quality, production and material groups to resolve issues in support of customer requirements and deliveries
- Issuing and managing RFQs to external supply base
- Supporting all efforts to establish cost-effective, long-term solutions with key suppliers to optimize cost of materials and ensure availability of required materials
- Maintaining purchase orders, blankets, open order reports and purchase order-specific files
- Arranging shipments for supplier delivery to IMT and subcontractors
- Handling other duties as per business needs
- Additional responsibilities as required to meet business needs
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a post-secondary education diploma/certification supplemented with Supply Chain-associated courses, such as APICS and CSCP, along with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience. You must also have the ability to undergo a Criminal Records Check.
The following skills and experience will be strong attributes:
- Demonstrated understanding of procurement methods and sourcing principles
- Ability to evaluate and assess suppliers effectively
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively
- Adherence to and maintenance of a purchasing code of ethics
- Substantial experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in fabrication, machining, and welding
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Established understanding of business systems (MRP/MTO/SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP experience)
- Expertise in Continuous Improvement concepts
- Demonstrated experience developing commodity strategies
- Successful Track Record in project management; negotiation, and expediting
- Ability to read blueprints (asset)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics (asset)
- Government Procurement Regulations (Controlled Goods, ITAR) (asset)
